丘成棟教授在數(shù)學(xué)、應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)與控制論、計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)、金融數(shù)學(xué)、生物信息等國際前沿研究領(lǐng)域取得了大量原始創(chuàng)新成果,先后發(fā)表兩百多篇學(xué)術(shù)論文,其中包括《PNAS》、《Ann. of Math.》、《Invent. Math.》等等這樣的國際頂尖數(shù)學(xué)刊物。他解決了復(fù)幾何和奇點(diǎn)理論中的一些國際著名的猜想。是第一個(gè)成功地將李代數(shù)用來研究代數(shù)幾何中的超曲面奇點(diǎn),如今這個(gè)代數(shù)被同行稱為Yau 代數(shù)。丘成棟教授及他的合作者還解決了非線性濾波理論中的一個(gè)中心的問題(解決了Mitter猜想),完全解決了非線性濾波器的理論問題,這對現(xiàn)代工業(yè),包括國防工業(yè)將會有深遠(yuǎn)的影響。在生物信息方面,他在DNA及蛋白質(zhì)2維表示法方面的成果發(fā)表在世界頂尖雜志《Nuclei Acid Research 》上。最近,他開創(chuàng)了natural vector方法來表示基因組和“蛋白質(zhì)”。

科研成就

開創(chuàng)了natural vector方法來表示基因組和蛋白質(zhì)。如果兩個(gè)基因組或蛋白質(zhì)從生物意義上互相接近,那么它們的natural vector具有很近的距離。因此,natural vector方法不僅對基因組和蛋白質(zhì)提供了快速、唯一的表示,而且成為有力的聚類和預(yù)測工具?;趎atural vector方法,丘教授計(jì)劃構(gòu)造一個(gè)基因組數(shù)據(jù)庫和一個(gè)蛋白質(zhì)數(shù)據(jù)庫。與當(dāng)前的基因組或蛋白質(zhì)數(shù)據(jù)庫不同,他構(gòu)造的新的數(shù)據(jù)庫將支持對所有已知的基因組和蛋白質(zhì)進(jìn)行同時(shí)的比較研究。公共蛋白質(zhì)數(shù)據(jù)庫記錄了當(dāng)前有超過八百萬的蛋白質(zhì)存在。在如今的方法中,只有natural vector方法可以完成同時(shí)比較這個(gè)“不可能的任務(wù)”。丘教授計(jì)劃在清華大學(xué)組建一個(gè)團(tuán)隊(duì)來開展這個(gè)科研項(xiàng)目。
